Caroline Bell, Ph.D.

Founder and CEO

Recognizing an unmet need in the rapidly growing field of Safety Pharmacology Dr. Caroline Bell founded her first company SSPCC, Inc. in 2001. Because of the cyclical nature of preclinical drug development, the rapid growth and changes in scientific and regulatory requirements and a shortage of individuals trained in this specialty, companies found themselves behind schedule, overworked, understaffed, and sometimes unable to meet the requirements of the Safety Pharmacology ICH S7A and ICH S7B guidelines in a timely and efficient manner. Even with the use of the growing numbers of CROs, the contract management and oversight of the work required additional resource and expertise.

In the course of eight successful years specializing in strategic safety pharmacology for a variety of clients, SSPCC was often approached for help in the management of a wider range of studies in many of different disciplines engaged in Drug Development.  Over time these requests have resulted in a new opportunity to expand and broaden the service offerings with the growth  of a larger network of individuals and vendors and engagement of a stellar group of of consultants in a wide range of fields.  Now under the banner of PharmaFacts, and with over 20 Independent Consultants, we are positioned to handle virtually any pre-clinical or non-clinical consulting need that you may have.

Dr. Bell was trained in Classical Pharmacology - including playing with organ baths and smoke drum recordings - at Bath University in the UK.  She obtained her PhD at New York Medical College also in Pharmacology and did her post-doctoral work at Cornell University Medical College in the Department of Pharmacology  and Toxicology.  She has over 30 years experience as a pharmacologist, preclinical safety assessment scientist and manager/director in the academic and global pharmaceutical arenas. She was one of the founding members of the Safety Pharmacology Society and served on the Board of Directors for seven years.
